Caterpillar Introduces Precious Metals Engine Rebuild Kits for Machines

The parts needed for an engine repair or rebuild for Cat machine customers now come in a pre-packaged kit designed to save time and effort. Building on the success of its In-frame Overhaul kits for on-highway engines, Caterpillar introduces Precious Metals Engine Rebuild Kits for machines.
Customers can choose from four cost-effective, simple-to-order engine rebuild options that are backed with Cat warranties, no matter who does the work.
According to Dennis Vosberg, General Manager for Customer Support, "This new parts kit offering is really going to help our customers extend the life of their Cat engine in the way that is most convenient to them. Previously, technicians or parts personnel would have to list and order each individual part for rebuild. Now, everything you need is in an easy to order, cost effective kit that can get you back to work fast. It is a great value for our customers."
Rebuild kits can be purchased over-the counter or with service at any authorized Cat dealer location. Four levels of kits: Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum include all critical parts necessary for the repair. Customers get exactly what they need for their level of repair or rebuild.
Each kit comes with the value and quality customers expect from Caterpillar.
- Bronze - the basic building block for all higher-level kits - includes required gaskets and seals to reassemble the engine.
- Silver builds on the Bronze kit with the addition of 6 pistons, liners, wrist pins, rings and retainers.
- Gold includes the Bronze kit and the added value of 6 Cat Reman cylinder pack assemblies.
- Platinum features the components from the Gold kit plus Cat Reman complete cylinder head, 6 Reman fuel injectors, Reman water pump and Reman oil pump.
Each component in the Precious Metals Engine Rebuild Kits is engineered to exact Cat specifications and manufactured with the latest engineering upgrades, quality materials and controlled manufacturing processes to ensure increased productivity and less downtime.
The kits come with a factory-backed, six-month parts warranty, covering Cat parts needed to correct the failure - including Cat parts damaged by the failure - and labor needed to correct the failure at an authorized Cat dealer. Extended Protection Plan is also available for up to three years/5000 hours.
Precious Metals Engine Rebuild kits are available for specific Cat 621G, 623G, 627F, 627G scrapers; 735, 740 trucks; 824G wheel dozer; 826G compactor; 980G, 980F wheel loaders; D8N, D8R track type tractors with 3406, 3406C and 3406E engines. Additional kit offerings for other Cat machines are under development.
