PM GROUP SHOWCASES ALL ITS STRENGTHS AT THE SAIE 2008

The SAIE fair has always been a major date on the PM Group's calendar and this year is no exception for the Modena-based company. Despite the difficulties the market is currently experiencing, the group have shown at the Bologna fair and has recorded positive results for the first 6 months of 2008 and is showcasing a number of products and features newly developed by its own business units (PM, Oil&Steel and Pilosio).

PM (hydraulic cranes for truck-mounting) has announced a new series of double connecting rod models, the PM 15S and PM 16,5SP. These compact-design cranes can meet customers' needs in terms of performance and accessories, with particular emphasis on safety. Oil&Steel (truck-mounted and tracked platforms for overhead work) has chosen the SAIE 2008 as the launch pad for the innovative Snake 2010 Compact, a new truck-mounted platform featuring double pantograph unit, fitted on a vehicle with a GVW of 3.5 tonnes. Although not officially an exhibitor at the SAIE 2008, Pilosio decided to spotlight its Super Tavolo ST110, a product for creating cast-in-site large floors, and its EN 12810-compliant SE (Sicuro Europeo) scaffolding.

The concept behind the new series of double connecting rod models, the PM 15S and PM 16,5SP was to offer a combination of high performance and great versatility. The wide range of accessories available for these products is much more typical of the top-end series cranes. Thanks to this feature, these models can meet most market demands, putting PM on a competitive footing with other major European and international truck-mount crane manufacturers. One of the main benefits of the new double connecting rod PM cranes is the range of electronic control systems (PT Compact or PowerTronic CAN BUS), which guarantee enhanced performance. The PM 15S and PM 16,5SP models also reduce size and bulk problems during installation on the vehicles (via horizontal rotating outriggers) and comply with European standard EN 12999, which includes stringent safety requirements (for the engineering, inspection calculations a and testing of hydraulic loading cranes). The two new PM models are available with up to a 6 hydraulic extensions on the standard machine and up to 4+4 or 5+2 for the jib version, making a max total outreach of 23 metres.

The SAIE 2008 also offers the ideal opportunity to showcase all the top sellers developed by PM Group's PM business unit, including the 35.5SP (with jib) from the PLATINUM line (top of the range in terms of performance and technology) and the PM 20.5SP LC, both of which are truck-mounted. There will also be three other models from the Platinum line on display, the PM 48, PM 65 and PM 85 (all mounted with jibs). The PM truck mount cranes feature loading capacities ranging from 2 to 85 tons within a total of 46 series and over 350 models.

PM Group's Oil&Steel business unit has chosen the SAIE 2008 to announce the arrival of its new Snake 2010 Compact, a truck mount platform featuring double pantograph unit. This model is a highly innovative solution which employs a new mount concept for light trucks. As the name implies, the Snake 2010 Compact is the most compact 20 m platform on today's market, and the specs prove it (height: 2,400 mm; length: 5,790 mm). These dimensions mean the model can manoeuvre effortlessly even when room is really tight, thanks also to the fact that the platform is mounted on a truck (the Nissan Cabstar 35.11) with a wheelbase of just 2,900 mm. Oil&Steel's Snake 2010 Compact features two perfectly symmetrical pantograph transmissions, which means it can perform accurate vertical "plumb line" movements and, therefore optimises operating times (without needing to manoeuvre the arm extension to reposition the platform). The aluminium bodywork is shaped to ensure maximum protection for the devices contained within it.

What is particularly interesting in the new Snake 2010 Compact is the innovative GECKO stabilisation system. This solution, which Oil&Steel has protected by an international patent, minimises stabilisation times, solves problems linked to slopes and eliminates the need for additional stabilisation blocks. As well as increasing the platform's productivity, the GECKO system guarantees high passive protection levels (for example, if a vehicle inadvertently enters the work area) and allows light vehicles to travel over the outrigger foot without affecting the truck's stability, thereby protecting the equipment's operators. Thanks to these characteristics, the Snake 2010 Compact is one of the best 20 m platform options when it comes to safety and performance.
