BAUMA 2007: A wide range of product innovations for the PM Group

The Italian group will be present at the prestigious Munich Trade Fair with new solutions developed by the PM, Oil&Steel and Pilosio Business Units.

The PM Group of San Cesario sul Panaro (Modena), active in the planning and production sector for equipment and instruments used in lifting materials and people (rear mounted cranes for trucks, truck-mounted aerial platforms and self-propelled vehicles, scaffoldings and formworks for the construction sector), brings numerous product innovations, for all three of its business units, to the BAUMA 2007. PM (hydraulic cranes for trucks) presents its new crane - the 35.5SP, a continuous rotation model that combines lightness and capacity and is truly entirely equipped. Oil&Steel (truck-mounted and tracked platforms for aerial work) announces its new aerial work platform, the Eagle S 6232, which was designed to incorporate avant-garde technological solutions from the specific sector. As for Pilosio (steel and aluminium scaffoldings, stages, and equipment for the entertainment industry), it gives visibility to SlabForm, a modular support system that greatly reduces rotation casting times in a construction yard, since very simple and fast to assemble and disassemble. Thanks to a vast and diversified range of products, the PM Group aims at reinforcing its position on both an Italian, as well as on an international level, offering solutions related to lifting and working at high quotas.

PM Business Unit
The new truck crane, 35.5SP, pertains to the PLATINUM line, the Top of the range as far as the PM business unit offer concerns, in terms of performance and technological equipment. Equipped with a continuous 360° rotation system, the smaller series of the line is equipped with several more characteristics, with respect to the lager models. The 35.5SP is a crane designed following a careful search for new materials and new geometries and has brought to its planning phase a solution that includes a very noteworthy relation between overall weight and load capacity. The 35528SP model (the version with 8 hydraulic extensions), weighs only 4,100kg. and is capable of lifting 900kg. at a distance of 21 meters. Thanks to these characteristics, this model represents an ideal solution to be installed on triple-axis trucks, since it allows for a greater residual load capacity on the body. The 35.5SP truck crane is very compact in size (2,488mm. in height and 1.262mm. in depth), important characteristics, since equipped with a fifth wheel. Thanks to a particular type of jack (installed on the main working boom), this crane is capable of carrying out an extra negative extension of 12°, which allows to compensate for the normal flexion of materials, due to the specific load, especially in configurations with more than one hydraulic extension. Among the other advantages offered by the new model, there is certainly the freedom guaranteed by the continuous 360° rotation.

The new 35.5SP is equipped with a PM Power Tronic electronic management system, which further increases the simplicity in manoeuvring the boom. This solution takes advantage of CAN-BUS technology (high speed data transmission system that minimises interaction between devices) to control, with maximum simplicity and safety, all crane manoeuvres). In fact, the operator is able to monitor the machine functions through a very intuitive graphic display that, in real time, furnishes all the information required for optimum operative management. Due to the use of a high number of analog sensors, all procedures can be performed in total safety, even those at all limits of lifting capacity.
Furthermore, the new 35.5SP is also equipped with a heat exchanger integrated in the column (PM patent). This particular position was designed to decrease the total space required for installation, and to prevent the device from being damaged by debris stirred up by the truck when in movement. This model can also be equipped with electronically controlled winches and antennas with an extra-extension, along with a 20° arm extension pack.
The new winches installed on the new PM crane offer the maximum in performance for any crane configuration and guarantee absolute safety.

The PM Business Unit also brings to the BAUMA 2007 the new 65SP and 85SP models, to offer its clients cranes mounted on four-axis industrial vehicles, capable of offering a load capacity up to 85 tons per meter (tm). These two products are also part of the "Platinum" line as they are fitted with new electronically controlled antennas and new winches, a continuous 360° rotation system on the fifth wheel, and a "PM Power Tronic" electronic management system.

Oil&Steel Business Unit
The Oil&Steel Business Unit of the PM Group is present at the BAUMA 2007 with its new aerial platform, Eagle S 6232, with which it will attempt to command Northern European countries. The Eagle S series is the result of a project, which focused great attention to its technological aspect, in order to satisfy the needs of those seeking very stable, robust platforms, capable of carrying out even the heaviest manoeuvres. This platform can reach very noteworthy working heights (62 meters) and lateral extensions (32 meters). The series S models are equipped with a second jib, which makes it possible to operate at negative angles. A solution that is highly appraised when used under trusses in petrol-chemical plants. Furthermore, the jib is supplied in a double version, with or without rotation. The Eagle S 6232 model was also studied to safeguard the machine components, integrating the equipment in the truck, and allowing for maximum productivity in its various manoeuvres, using a telecommunication system, which allows for communication, in real time, between the ground operator and the platform operator.

Two additional models that the Oil&Steel Business Unit will announce at the Munich Trade Fair are the Octopussy 21 tracked platform and the Scorpion 2012 light truck-mounted platform. The first is a tracked platform with a basket load capacity of 200kg (2 operators with equipment), capable of a maximum working height of 21 meters and a lateral extension of 9 meters. Thanks to the particular configuration of the double pantograph boom, obstacles can be by-passed at a height of 10.5 meters. This solution makes it possible to carry out manoeuvres perpendicular to a wall without extending, carrying out a straight upward movement in total safety. With regards to the Scorpion 2012, this model is equipped with a telescopic working boom (like other models in this series), which allows operators to reach a maximum working height of 20 meters and a lateral extension of 12 meters. Very simple to use, and indicated for rentals without operators, this machine is particularly suitable for maintenance interventions involving streetlights and overpasses.

Pilosio Business Unit
In occasion of the BAUMA 2007, the Pilosio Business Unit will exhibit its new SlabForm system, which allows for very rapid assembly and disassembly, noticeably reducing casting rotation times in construction yards. Entirely in aluminium, it is very light and can be manually moved (each component weighs less than 16kg.). This modular system (providing for a base panel measuring 150x75cm), allows to construct any floor geometry in very reduced times. SlabForm is suitable for any type of structure, from malls to industrial plants, with particular advantages for the construction industry. The number of props is rather limited (one every 3.45 squared meters), and this allows for reinforced surfaces that are perfectly practicable and can be used for stocking construction material. Very simple to use, this system allows operators to operate in total safety during the assembly and disassembly stages. The Lama due company (which is part of the Pilosio Business Unit), will present several among its leading products, such as mobile tower scaffoldings on wheels and aluminium double-pitch coverings normally used in the entertainment sector.
